  • Cool!

I am going to have a Blue Heeler today!

Can you tell me how can I train him to be smart?

BTW Great video and great jump in the water.

  • You don't have to train "smart" anything, as it will no doubt be the smartest dog you've ever owned. Just keep this in mind when training because if you do anything irrational the dog will know and become leery of your training. Great breed w/ even better natural instincts. A great dog if you learn to trust it. Recommend as little leash time as possible if at all. Won't need it anyways.

  • @kashankirk I agree with everything you say, except the leash part. Cattle dogs have very strong Alfa instinct. I think that leashing is great way to establish and maintain Alfa over a dog, if done properly. He/she needs to know that play time is when you say it is play time. I leash mine for the first 5-10 minutes of our walk and have her heeling. Only then I let her off and give her, her play time; I feel it has contributed greatly to her obedience.

You have a beautiful dog, keep posting!

  • @stwbryshrtcake My 3 month old red heeler jumped in the pond at the dog park the other day. I had no idea if he could swim, and certainly didn't know he was going to just jump in and do it without a 2nd thought. Turns out, he swims like a champ.

  • Lol how long have you had that chewtoy a day my blue healer tears those apart almost instantly :)

  • this is awesome! :) my blue heeler hasn't the slightest idea of how to swim. it's hilarious to see him try it we have to hold him up and he looks so longigly at our border collie lab mix who takes to the water like a sea otter.

  • You should do dock diving with that dog!

  • I didn't have to train my Blue Heeler. She was smart enough to figure out what the commands were. Besides, I'm too lazy to train a dog.
