Here's an update with some pics included to try and get more of a sense of what's happening. The cast stays on for 4wks and therapy begins very soon after removal of the cast.

  • hey mate.I had snap my achilis tendon when i was playing soccer,i had my operation on the 5th of january, after of my operation the doctor put me the cast with my foot donw for 3 weeks.after againg the doctor and change me with new cast very much like yours. this time with my foot up 10 degree, for 2 weeks.and i when againg to see the doctor,& they take off my cast and they give me a boot for 3 weeks, after that they told me that start doing fisio. do you think is that anough?

  • @garotinho1108 It's difficult for me to say if it is "enough" since I don't know how much you weigh, how fit you were before and what your current pain levels are like now.

I would say that if your doctor has tried this protocol with numerous patients before you, it's likely to be successful, but I also know that doctors will have different protocols across the planet. :)

Best of luck to you in your healing and recovery.

  • How was the healing process? This just happened to me. I'm an EMT, and I was on my way home from work, and came up on a car that had flipped over. Mine ruptured when I was running across the highway to help the motorist ,that was trapped. Luckily he was ok,but unfortunately for me I had surgery the next day. Now I'm off for 3 months. My cast comes off towards the end of the month, adn then I get to wear the big boot...Ugh!

  • @missinvisible1 Hello. I'm sorry to hear of your injury. What an amazing story! As for my healing process, it has gone pretty well. This in jury is 90%+mental. Stay positive and systematic in your approach to healing and you will notice the time passing by. Sure, some days can be tough, but keep your eye on the prize and you'll make it! :)

  • God bless you man. My left Achilles has been tight and giving me trouble for about a month. My doctor said stretch my calves, but I've been remiss in doing so. Seeing what you're going through is really going to make me stretch it. Thanks so much for posting this video. By the way, from your T-Shirt, I think we're both in the same state.

  • @lfholt7 Thanks! Good idea in speaking with your doctor. ;)

  • it's sueters!!! lol and yah very painful... had mine removed and it was very disturbing!

  • @CyberCacique1 I agree on the mental part.I'm having a hard time with not being able to just go and do what I need to do for myself. Thanks for the reply!

  • I really feel for anybody with achilles problems. Mine did not rupture but the attachment point with the heal bone calcified over causing bad pain. It was the most painful thing I have ever had done. It was horrible and feel for anybody who goes thru anything like this .Good luck to everybody.
