Father Frano Dušaj is a Franciscan priest working in Malesija in the Albanian zone of Montenegro in the Archdiocese of Bar, one of the oldest in the Balkan Peninsula.
Frano Dušaj was born near Tuzi, Albania on 24 January 1960 in a devout family traditionally close to the Franciscan community for more than 100 years. His grandfather was a Franciscan attendant and sacristan. The land on which the Franciscan church was built belonged to his grandfathers. When little Frano at an early age expressed a wish for a priestly vocation, there seemed no question that he too would follow in these footsteps. Having received his parents blessing, Frano Dušaj, at age 14, went to the Seminary in Zadar.
The 28-minute documentary "Frano from Malesija" considers the simple story of a priest - his vocation, his priestly life, his struggle with cancer and his sense of mission to help the poor around him.
