Old fiddle tune memorialized in Bill Monroe's tribute "Uncle Pen." I learned this version from Monroe's Uncle Pen album. If I remember correctly, Monroe only plays the B part on the LP. My A part is adapted from the fiddle.
Please check out Mike Compton's (taterbug here on YouTube) version here on YouTube to see how a true old time stylist does it.
Wonderful version of Jenny Lynn!! Makes me want to pull my version off YT! That is a great old F-2 also sustain to forever. Can you mention how you tuned for this one? The famous mistertaterbug used a sawmill tuning (ADAD) -- is that what you are using as well? Whatever, your take here is outstanding and inspiring! I can't understand why this tune is not played more than it is -- it was one of the forces that moved Bill Monroe and that alone makes it important.

As usual, Jim plays extremely well! Everything this guy plays is just great. I practice more when ever I listen to jim - that's the best thing I could say about any musician.

Hey, nice work! I need to learn this on the fiddle. Unfortunately, the only fiddle version I've seen yet (on YouTube) is Bill Monroe's Uncle Pen, which of course is incomplete.
Also, Mike Compton's YouTube username is mistertaterbug
