There have been studies showing that vegans have a higher life expectancy by about three years. That being said, there have also been studies showing that plants react to fear and pain in a similar way that animals would. Meat has also been shown to be an important part of human evolution. There are pros and cons to both sides, it's just plain arrogance to blow off facts without digging a little deeper.

There is a class of men who profit off of the suffering and perversion of nature that is the factory farm.

My parents didn't become vegetarian until their 50's.

We grow large amounts of grains in the US that we use to feed cows, pigs, chickens and there is on a 10% return in energy.

It is most efficient to get calories directly from the source. In terms of morality, factory farms are an abomination as well.

I'm not sure what studies your referring to regarding the increase in life expectancy of vegans and how they would test such a statement. Plus I believe the study in which plants react to fear/pain was done in the 1800s and was later proven to be false from tests done by Mythbusters. This is due to plants lacking a nervous system which is required for any sort of emotional reaction. So in reply, it’s just plain ignorance to blow off "facts" without having any facts to begin with. :)
