An old tape deck I found with the Modulaire receiver, which seen in an earlier video.

Needs some transport repair and a general cleanup. Very solid build, and it weighs a lot for its size.

  • That..is..a NICE deck!! I'm pretty sue the Memory switch is to stop the tape at zero on the counter when rewinding.

  • I sounds great, even with a worn out tape. The transport is a nightmare to service though, and I don't know how long it will be before I will have it back together. I need to have the idler rollers rebuilt.

  • I've got a SCT-19 without the bands :(

is it worth replacing the bands or should I just throw it away?

  • I had this deck many years ago. It was the BEST cassette deck I've ever worked with. You could really record hard into it... and no distortion. If I still used tapes, I'd search e-pay for one of these, but now, I record everything digital.

  • I have one that has a weak channel, doesn't get loud enough and has back ground noise, could be a cap need replacing have you done that?

  • I just found one of these tape recorders in a pawn shop as well and it has the same problem that you describe in this video. Did you ever manage to repair the issue with the transport? I took a look inside, but it seems like quite a mess and I don't want to screw with it too much. I'd love to get this working though, it's a cool machine!

  • i love this machine

  • Oh, I forgot to ask, when you repair this machine, could you make a video of the insides? I'd love to see the Ac motor and transport! I bet others would enjoy that too. Thanks!

  • Nice machine! Try cleaning the rubber idlers that go between the take up and rewind spindles with alcohol. That often gets the grip back. You probably already know that ;>) Check out my Realistic SCT 86, a 1992 cute little deck. Tha nks for the video!
