@mattyharrison93 He seemed to inherit Paul McCartney's melodicism.

nae such thing as demon drink. jist big tumblers. gerry went through every emotion and imparted. sometimes it takes 5 minutes. for others it can take a lifetime. drunk or sober. what you got out of gerry was the best he could give. hail!

It was a rhetorical question but thanks for the info.

@JimLaddie Billy still tours his hilariously accurate observational comedy and after the split the pair remained close friends. Gerry was never comfortable being in the limelight and especially disliked the politics of the music business. He became quite reclusive and continued drinking too much. Gerry died earlier this year. If you see this within the next week you can watch the documentary Gerry Rafferty; Right Down The Line on BBC iPlayer.

The ONE person wuo said they didn't like this must be very hard to please indeed!
A great song from a great song writer. Gerry Rafferty a ledgend. Full stop!!
Nothing will compare to my dad singing this for me.
He use to take me to folk clubs when I was under ten and refused to go to bed on Sunday nights, sit me in the corner with a bottle of coke and some crisps while I watched this world of music unfold!
I guess my daddy really cared :-)
Great song! Thank you x
