Most famous for this song, but Tom Tom Rush made several good albums during the late 60's and early 70's. In 1975 The Walker Brothers showed that they still got good taste when they made a version of this song, which became a UK hit.

  • So long ago, yet it still tears into my heart. This man is incredible.

  • Thank you SO much for sharing this, SixtiesPopGold! I only got to see him twice, 42 years apart. His voice and playing had lost nothing.

If you go to his website, you'll see the photo I took of him playing outside UNH in 1969. I chatted with him last year, and he asked me to send it. So I found it, scanned it, and emailed it. If you go to his website, it's the one on the far right in the Photos section "The Sixties"

Click on it, and you'll see the whole photo of him and Trevo Veitch.

  • so cute, so brilliant, beautiful Tom...

  • I've always thought Tom Rush was less appreciated than some of the other singers of that time. Listening to this brought back some great memories. Thanks for sharing.

  • 1:41.. saddest line of the entire song

  • Every bit as good as Dylan, but no guilt. We all remember the person Tom is singing about ...Don't we....; Happy new year US ..From UK. Mark

  • If you like this get Tom's album Circle Game. Classic!

  • @JayAdlerComment I was at school on the Island (SUNY SB) with everyone of those artists playing on campus. While it may not have been the Gaslight, Cafe Wha, the BackFence, etc, those singer songwriters still remain inspirational and I still listen to them. This is a great clip of Tom. Too bad there isn't a Rockport Sunday to follow

  • Tom Rush Hummmm... A Man With A Great Heart

  • Back in the late sixties when I was a student at NYU, in Greenwich Village, the world's best folk singers inhabited the myriad night clubs and expresso joints. The beatniks had walked away with their bongos yielding the gavel to the precursors to today's adult alternative artists.I always has a special inclination toward listening to Tom Rush, Tim Hardin, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Get a hold of Tom Rush songs No Regrets and Circle Game, that's a classic.Tom Rush has a style to relax to.

  • Tom Rush is a master singer/songwriter
