I don't know about these titles. Literally, I don't. They just come to me, like the music. Sometimes I want to just let you take care of it, but I just can't bring myself to call them "Improvisation no. 1" or "Improvisation no. 2". It just seems dead, and I can't do it. Anyway, baggage of titles and images aside, I hope you enjoy the music, whatever it tells you in its own terms. This is the last improvisation I recorded in Wellsboro this summer.

(P.S. "The Shape of the Room When Eyes Are Closed" is a line from Adi Da Samraj's great literary work "The Mummery Book: The Parable of Divine Tragedy, Told By Means of A Self-Illuminated Illustration of The Totality of Mind". To me, it is a reference to the Transcendental feeling of simply Being. Check out http://www.mummerybook.org/ for more info.)

  • Reminds me of the hopelessness of Satie, the self indulgence of Rachmaninov, and the prettiness of Debussy.
