2 weeks after the biceps tenodesis surgery, and I'm doing GREAT! Typically, someone with this surgery wouldn't be riding outside for 3-4 months. My doctor thinks he'll let me out in 6 weeks (provided I avoid dangerous routes like the front side of Lookout Mountain, reducing the risk of another crash).
Yeah. I know, the video's blurry. I need a better camera.

  • I'm having a subacromial decompression, AC joint resection & bicep tenodesis done at the end of March. Your video is inspiring and I was wondering if there's anything you wish you had known, things you think helped, things you would have done differently etc... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • @Anaconda1126 Best I can say is try and start GENTLE use as soon as you can following the surgery. Gentle stretching, low weight strengthening, etc. The use will help prevent too much scar tissue from forming and causing other problems. No need to rush things, but only you can determine with accuracy what you can and can't do. You don't want sharp pain. Don't let it exceed a small ache.

I'm currently in another recovery- fell off a 30 ft. cliff on my bike. Massive injuries.

  • that was a pretty invasive surgery,, and thanks for the graphic pix!! Sounds like you are a quick-healer!

And an awesome cause that you are riding for... there's so much to be done! NKF are lucky to have you in their corner!

  • Well, there's been a bit of a setback, but I'm still pushing forward. About a week after I made this video, the arm started spasming painfully. We're still trying to get a handle on it, but otherwise I'm doing well.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad to help the NKF. I figure if I'm doing the ride anyway, I may as well make it help others as well.

  • @CircaRigeI i've had some bicep tendonitis pain for a few years, contemplating surgery (tenodesis specifically), just seeing if you would recommend this surgery as far as going back to 100% use of the bicep/shoulder area, thanks!

  • @sbt200224 I'm kind of the wrong person to ask. Shortly after this video I developed complications of adhesive capsulitis, and am still having difficulty. However, If things had continued the way they were, yes, I would recommend it. It's possible, even probable, that the way I heal is the cause of my own problems. My doctor hasn't often seen the two biceps muscles fuse together the way mine have. I tend to form excess scar tissue.

  • @grandplans Well, the recovery has stalled a bit. Started having spasms in the arm last week that are quite painful. They're starting to calm down, though, and I should be back on the bike again soon! Thanks for sponsoring the ride!

  • man, that does look a bit painful. I'm glad you're doing good with your speedy recovery!! :)

  • Thanks, my friends, both canine and human! *hugs* right back!
