  • Pitcalco, you are too smart. Judge Astakhov is very intelligent and has even had some education in the U.S., but he seemed unaware of this.

  • If the exchange company has any access to a US bank or to the US Federal Reserve he will be able to collect on this torn-up banknote. US Banknotes remain legal tender no matter what damage has been done to them as long as you have the entire note - perhaps in several pieces.

  • Going to court for 100 dollars? Why on earth would this defendant embarrass himself so recklessly? Give the woman her small change without having to go before a judge to force you. We are not talking about thousands of dollars, this bill is merely peanuts... is the whole country that poor? I don't think so; greedy and stupid perhaps.

This is very sad. I guess there are pathetic people all over the world... not isolated to the U.S.

  • @Britishdude1 Interesting. So it is even easier than I thought. I will have to re-watch this case since it has been a few years and I forget the details. I remember, however, that I found it odd that the court took judicial notice of the banknote being worthless when that could have been quite easy to check.

  • @pitcalco Even if you have only part of the note it still remains legal tender. You can exchange a piece of a bill for full value as long as the piece represents at least 60% of the whole note.

  • Hey , Note from America, don't worry that 100 is still good in bad condition !

  • Haha ! i love EastEurope . It's like that movie where there's a planet far away where everything is the same but everything is also opposite. Lots of sexy Russian girls very proper and dressed like barbie dolls, but somehow like stepford wives (robots). Meanwhile men rule the place as a minority among hotties . It's got to be Fascinating ! LOL

  • the translation/ subtitles can be a tad off at times, but I really like it! (-:

    neat

  • I like Judge Astakhov! He's very clever. I used to watch his programs when I lived in Russia.

  • yes, i was thinking the same thing, heheh

really, i've seen bills with much greater damage! and in fact, scotch tape is quite acceptable to patch 'em up! :P
