in 2008 there has been technology like this? OMG..

tablets are for fags, the laptop is small step into being gay, desktop rated M for manly.

@jreicher The strong point from apple is they only have a single hardware option, microsoft always has an infinite combination of hardware making it hard for developers to test their software and make it capable to be run on all the available combinations, also if you work for microsoft please tell them to stop the BS of making it single language, I had to buy the ultimate edition of Windows 7 just to have spanish and english as MUI on top of the japanese OS, the MUI doesn't change everything.

The problem with microsoft is, their decision taking relies on strategic alliances, they can't just announce a tablet OS if they don't have the hardware for it, and they can't just release it with one brand but with all it's partners, also they can't release half baked products like they did back in the vista era, sadly microsoft will once again arrive late for the tablet party like they did with the WP7, they should also make windows multilanguage, single language is pathetic.

HA! how typical of Microsoft to get people excited with a cool video that actually shows nothing of the tablet. All this demonstrates is an application for the tablet, not the tablet itself. This application is built exactly for this demo and is not even functional. It's just there to look cool and futuristic and promising. The touch functions seems to be quite bad too, as you see the guy clicking in the same place multiple times and trying to scroll to no avail (well, after about four strokes).

It's 2011 now I guess I will be using products like this my junior year in highschool.

Just because MS doesn't sell consumer products (like apple) doesn't mean they aren't innovating
-
This will be FUCKING awesome, I would not mind spending 1k on this piece of beautiful tech
-
What is it called?
What is the part number?
You will give me information!
"I don't believe Microsoft, especially Microsoft, of being capable at this early stage of producing this tech with as fluid a UI as demonstrated."
Oh please Microsoft are world-leaders in UI research. You think Microsoft weren't doing multitouch years before apple at ever heard of it you're out of your mind.
Guess who they went to for future UIs when they were making minority report, clue: it wasn't apple.

Actually, these high-performance tablets are have been available for months-- it's just that developers haven't taken advantage of their performance. I was the developer of this demo and it was a breeze to get it to run smoothly. Part of the reason we do these concept pieces is to get people to think of Tablet PC's as being viable platforms for stunning, touch-enabled, mobile applications.
