Shatner didn't lose anything. He was having fun. I've worked with advertising voice over directors too, and have been told at points "Do it more purple", "Do it more brown." WTF? Muppets. I direct too, and I might ask people if they will emphasise certain ideas. But in the end you need the talent to speak in a way that's in keeping with their character and the reason you hired them.

This is an example of a 'director' who has no clue how to direct the talent. Anyone who thinks Shatner is being arrogant has no clue how the voice business functions. No legit director gives a line read unless it's take 10, and then to read the whole line "Hi this is William Shatner..." This guy isn't even a real director he's some advertising account rep. who walked into it.
