In this tutorial you will learn to add some more controls and a few mathematical expressions to make key framing easier. Many people had problems with the expression so I will type it below once again:

body.tx = (L_Foot.tx + R_Foot.tx)/2
body.ty = (L_Foot.ty + R_Foot.ty)/2
body.tz = (L_Foot.tz + R_Foot.tz)/2

ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE EXPRESSION EDITOR IS CASE SENSITIVE

  • nice job, it helped me lots...

    one thing though is since im really new to the program I dont know how to do all the things and you dont always explain it in full.

    but its still extremely helpful, good job!

  • Hi,

    I am happy you found my tutorial helpful. I tried to explain this as thorough as I could but this tutorial is mostly for someone who is very familiar with maya.

    Good luck with maya

  • example when u moved the controllers for the shoulders in place...

    what program are u using to record with?? XD

  • oh ok thanks for letting me know lol

    I am using CamStudio. It's a free software you can easily find online

  • Very good tutorial!!!

    But if u use x,c,v, to activate the snap function it will be much easy`r

    X = snap to grids

    C = snap to curves

    V = snap to points

    ;D

  • Thanks for your comment! I do use X, C, and V for the snap function. What part of the tutorial are you talking about? There are certain hotKeys such as F8 for edit mode that I cannot use because of the program i am using to record the tutorial ;-) Also i try not to use hotkeys for other tools so i won't confuse the viewers.

  • Ahhhh.. the semi-colon got me, it's the film quality.

    Thanks for that!!

  • long time ago... let me see... make sure u use semicolon at the end. and make sure the names of the cubes are spelld right ("L_foot" and "R_foot"). i think that was it for me.

  • Hey, i had the same problem with the Syntax error, but i'm not sure what it is that i did wrong, what did you do to fix it?

  • When are you going to add the part 5 tutorial of the hand and connecting the skeleton to the body

  • Well i figured it out after watching it over and over for about an hour :P
