Here I am crashing out some familiar power chords while demonstrating the bad-ass "None More Black" / NMB pedal by Menatone.

I'm using a Crate Powerblock head set dead clean 'cause I wanted everyone to hear the pedal's tone, not the head. Trust me, it sounds even more HUGE and SICK through my 50W Marshall JMP MKII NMV head.

This pedal is very articulate, even with the GAIN cranked almost all of the way up. The guitar's volume knob can clean up the distortion for nice overdriven rhythm playing, but much over 5 on the knob and it's full bore distort-a-licious-ness.

I like how it sounds so BIG and FULL and DISTORTED and MEATY and COMPRESSED without getting buzzy. In addition to adding distortion, it makes your tone more "powerful" - really in your face.

The VOL and GAIN controls strongly effect the overall tone and vibe of the pedal in addition to the PRES and SUCK knobs so you have to spin all four knobbies in your search for tone.

Video recorded with a Sony DSC-HX5V.

  • I have this pedal, #81 or something. Anyway...

So many good things to say about this box. It's used to dirty up my AC30 for some of the heavier stuff my band plays, and it's just NASTY. If you have the cash, and want a high gain brit sound, get the None More Black. You will not be disappointed.

It's a great, versatile pedal. With all the knobs arould 10:00 and my guitar's volume down and a clean amp it's a nice overdrive. Rolling up the volume on the guitar brings the heaviness. It's more versatile than most people think because most high gain pedals have one basic distortion tone - the NMB does light all the way to heavy noise.

  • Interesting.Pretty good distortion. It sounds pretty clean. It would be good for Black Metal which has alot of Chord progressions

  • @LightningMultiBolt

Clean, yes, but it also has a unique "grit" that adds a lot of interest to the dirt tone. Rock on!

  • Sounds great at 3/4 "Presence" and 1/4 "Suck" !

  • Livin after midnight lol.

  • there's an awesome band called none more black

  • @KissFanSite And a lot of high gain pedals smother the notes when you're playing chords. You can strum open chords with this pedal (even through the Vox with the low headroom) and still hear that you're playing a G. Brian Mena is a genious.
