Women entering the nunnery would traditionally undergo having their hair shorn. This was symbolic of their leaving behind the traditional 'feminine' role and of their rejection of vanity. This custom also is common in many Asian religions (becoming a Buddhist monk, etc)

thts very old and inaccurate now adays to go in to aa nunnery THIS IS TRUE they either shave your head with clippers themselves or make you goto a barbers and hav it done DOT BELIEVE LOOK IT UP
