  • I recommend the Shubu by Boardworks. We have tried to beat the crap out of two of them for almost a year now and they have held up. They don't bow, they hold air very well, paddle pretty fast for an inflatable. I managed to puncture one on a piling full of mussels. Surfing them is do able but I prefer a fiberglass or epoxy one. Great for travel!

  • Has anyone tried the iC4 on the ocean? If so, what did you think about its performance for surfing?

  • @wasatchmtnbiker Our test ride was in the bay. But if anyone has taken one out into the surf, we would really like to catch that review for our site.

  • Very cool. What was the elapsed time on the inflation?

  • @dglassner It took about 5 minutes to pump it up. Just be sure to pump it up all the way. We underinflated a little because we didn't have a pressure gauge on our pump. And when I took it out, it bowed a little.

  • @wasatchmtnbiker ... I see a guy all the time @ southshore Oahu on one of these. It's amazing to me how well he does, catching everything he wants, making turns like the hard boards. Unless you know what to look for, you wouldn't know he was on an inflatable.

  • Check out the "Big Earl" SUP at NRSWEB.COM. They have been making inflatable rafts and kayaks for a long time and there gear is commercial outfitter quality.

  • C4 is dangerous

  • C-4 is a good brand. But I think "inflatables" are also disposable SUP's, I doubt they are durable if you try to surf with them, and they start hitting the reef. And probably like "inflatable" beds, that never quite find their ideal shape. In the Big Island, there's a rental company charging like $35 per hour for an "inflatable". Probably OK for the tourist that will never show up again, but not good for a local.

  • Inflatable SUP is a great idea, but you can find better inflatable board on the market. Look at the fins for example: they are already bended in the cartoon box and after inflation as well ! The best design is this one with the removable fins that you mount after inflation. The anti-sliping pad seems not good, will go away in few days... The shape on water is like a banana. It will not surf at all...sorry we don't recommend this one.

  • how much do one of these cost
