Experiment based on Quase Cinema open-source module for light painting, made with Resolume 3.11 using an ordinary webcam and projector.
I use normal projections with the program, mixing whatever I want, and on top is a layer with the webcam realtime feed filtered many times to achieve the "color painting" effect. It extracts light sources from the background - from test and error, milky and small lamps work better - colorize them, make trails and fade in time. Any number of light sources can be used, even things like cell phones.
Performance by Dj/Vj Ivan Motta at Cabaret Cru Cipó party, 21/01/2010, Cinematheque - Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
