Our Cars in 1994 (including my daily drivers) - Hi-8 Video

1987 Mercury Topaz

A look back at the '90s when we had these cars in our property. The Escort Wagon was my 3rd car. It was working very well once it was fixed. A year later it was getting too worn out. This was one of the earliest Escorts made by Ford and it had the oval-shaped emblem as you can see in the video. My dad decided to save them as souvenirs, which I think it was a good idea.

The Nova was my 4th car with over 200,000 miles on the odometer (see video for the price). This turned out to be a better car than I expected. It even lasted longer than I though.

The '74 VW Thing my dad got and needed a lot of repairing. He did most of the work in getting it all fixed. That was a time when we had two of them (a '73 and a '74). Then, my dad decided to sell it, which would be to a friend of his. Today, we have one Thing (a '73 in the garage).

The '87 Topaz was our main car at the time (you know, when we go shopping, visit someone, go on vacation and all that). It didn't have A/C but we didn't mind it (that was then). My mom had an accident in that car, which wasn't so bad, thank goodness. She was all right, as well as my sister and niece who were also in the car. A front fender had to be replaced and the car was still going very well for several more years.

Note that the Escort and the Topaz had a permit for our local recycling place. Currently, we would use our Ranger to bring recyclables as well as trash to the place.

We also had Ford Escorts in the UK but not,oddly,the same as that.The old Hi8 brings back memories!

And I thought that Super 8 home movies bring back memories. We still got them in very good shape. The one I've uploaded to YouTube was taken in the mid '70s, when I was a little kid. I would like to upload some more of them, although I don't know how soon.

@ThisGuyFrritz Wow. This Video is So COOL. I Just got my first car. 1987 Chevy nova hatchback. It was a One Owner. brand new tires. 147,000 KMS. Automatic. Very nice car. Iam so Happy with it.. @jakesaintsrow123 Mine needed the piston rings changed. My dad tried it with Perfect Circle, which didn't work well. Then he tried Hastings, and they worked very well. After some other necessary repairs, the Escort went fine for several months (including the winter season). And then it had gotten too worn out when I took the video.

We didn't ever see that rather stylish oval shaped emblem here,just the usual Ford with its blue emblem.
