  • hi davie, if u get a chance to read this i have not fished buzzers much and was wondering can you fish them on a river atb, Luke Hogan

  • Hi LukeHogan2,

I do fish midge/buzzers patterns on the river mostly in small sizes, but nothing like I would fish on the lochs..Best dry would be the Griffiths Gnat, emerger Shuttlecock black and olive and best pupa would be a quilled buzzer...

    All the best Davie

  • Hey Davie, Killer pattern. Where do you get you flexi flossfrom?

  • Hi sasquatch446,

The original flexi-floss I got came from Orvis which I think you can still buy, but I used Uni-flexx and Super Stretch Floss, which is exactly the same but a different name and is easier to get, from Veniards who are a wholesaler here in the U.K..

I hope this helps you but if you can't find it please get back in touch...

    All the best Davie

  • what kind of varnish do you use with these flies?

  • Hi misterbig697,

I use Rimmel 60 seconds which is a ladies nail varnish and another that is from a company called Veniards who supply tackle shops here in the U.K...

    All the best Davie

  • A special thanks to you, Mr. McPhail, for posting this pattern. I'm headed out today, for our bi-annual trip to Henry's Lake, in Idaho, and I believe a having a few of these will prove a good notion. I'm going to fill a box with these, using red, green, black, and tan thread. Boo-yah! Thanks a million.

  • Hi swift64badminton,

That sounds like a very good deal we pay a bit more than that here in the U.K...

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail thanks for the reply, i couldn't find it but i did order something which looks identical to that material, i'll tell you how it goes.
