Obviously he's not saying women are stupid, just as a comment to make his friend feel better. Even if it's considered sexist, it's definitely not as bad as it is in a lot music today

love it todd.

WHY DO YOU CRITISIZE SONG LYRICS? ENJOY!
-
The roller skating rink in Calhoun, GA, maybe 1971.. This was my favorite song to skate to.

Who cares if the lyrics DO make an off color sexist jab, it doesn't have to be politically correct! Things were different back then,,those who were there remember. We didn't take ourselves THAT seriously.

Just a wonderful infectious song that should be a classic... maybe it is? Todd is not calling women stupid any more than women call men dumb. Todd might not like his early ear candy but performers are not the best to evaluate their own best work. And this is special ear candy ..

@DJMeowMax exactly. Saying "women are stupid" or "men are stupid" is just something people say to cheer up their lovelorn friends. It's a song about friendship, after all; and a lovely one at that.

Proof that at one time Todd wrote better pop songs than even Lennon/McCartney

His best tune far and away.
I always read this song from the last verse as he was putting his friends need ahead of his own,,something sort of wamn about that..."we got to get you a woman and then when we're thru with you..we'll get me one too"

Wauqhuelin- he is talking about his feelings toward a woman being stupid but fun- not the woman. This is a song about emerging romantic feelings in adolescence OK? Please stop insulting Todd simply because he has reached 60 years of age. Instead, check out what he has done over an amazing musical career.
