@tezzator My understanding of Iraq is advanced society particularly Baghdad and larger cities. Lack of hostility btw Sunni & Shiite families except for fundamentalist strains -- like cultures that clash in USA and in Israel w rural extremist Settlers. Iraq had modern schools, hospitals, etc. esp before the cruel embargo and 1991 war. I probably would have been comfortable visiting Iraq, as a secular American Jew with a sense of humor and compassion. Ashamed of what my country did and many lies.
