G.Skill Falcon SSD (64GB) booting Ubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10) Alpha 6.
* Boot time recorded via stopwatch as approximately 12 seconds from "Grub loading..." until applications can be launched (and do in fact launch!)
* Running on a Q6600 @ 3.2GHz, ASUS P5K Premium, 4GB G.Skill PI DDR2-1066, 64GB G.Skill Falcon (AHCI), BenQ FP241W 24" LCD, etc.
* Drive has not been tweaked in any way (not even partition block sizing, TRIM/wiper, etc) - totally standard EXT4 install via LiveCD.
* Fresh install with a bunch of extra apps (vlc, google earth, virtualbox, etc) and nicer UI (avant window navigator, gnome-do, euh emerald theme, transparent gnome-panel, macultimate leopard icons, wallapaper, etc).
Nope, I just edited the video using the new video editing tools... the previous upload I had showed the whole boot process which was a bit silly since my RAID card adds ~45s to the boot time!
For whatever reason YouTube decided that this edit qualifies it as a "new" video and thus removed all the previous comments and gave it a "new" date =\
I'm running 10.04 on my main machine and server and 11.04 on my laptop and htpc. Looking at moving to Fedora if 12.04 doesn't shape up to be nice!
