I think desht is the same as beyat in terms of notes, but the emphasis is different, which makes them very related, but not the same maqam

That is Maqam Dasht indeed. In fact as written this is related to northern Iraq where Kurds reside.

If you were to listen to the Iranian Dastgah Dashti, you would easily hear the origins.

yah i agree i think hes doing bayat too but also you must pay attention to the spirit of the maqam if you know what i mean but i dont know dasht i heared it once from my music teacher i didnt get it but i can taste bayat for sure

all i could say he is playing maqam bayat with no idenity some time you you hear him going overe maqam orfa , that what lacks naseer he can not translate any maqam in the right manner with all respect to him he is a successful man .
