I think this is one of the best old wave games on c64, but not among the most famous.

I see this game as a hybrid between Pitfall, Space Invaders and Arkanoid / Breakout type of games.

I first uploaded a video from this game in March 02, 2009, but I only barely reached floor 30 without saves. This time I completed the game with saves and in better quality compared to the previous video which I removed. This game is hard enough on novice difficulty. Everything gets even faster on harder difficulty levels.

The movement of snakes is unpredictable and timing of jumps cannot be based on previous experience. Sometimes an unavoidable snake appears underneath just when landing. There's a specific key for each door, but all keys and doors look alike.

Music in the beginning is the theme for "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"

Thanks to kookoon and Frankeinstein777 for the comments on the previous video.

  • Dude, you really know how to play this..

  • One of the first games i ever played as a kid! Ahh the memories! Good ol' times..

  • Yes it was one of my big favorites on the C64 besides HERO, Raid on Bungling Bay, and Beach Head (II) :-)

  • man i had the first shamus on my old IBM. this music brings back so many memories.

  • Case II looked better on the Atari, if I recall rightly, but I don't think it was quite this fast. Hard enough, though.

  • This game was actually easier to beat than the original "Shamus", because you had a map function to keep track of where you were going. I was eventually able to get to the end of this game, but not its' predecessor, because I needed a co-pilot (or rather a navigator) to keep track of where I was going, esp. the higher levels.

  • i never really got the purpose of this game, but still very addictive....

    nice intro music.....

  • Oh yes, good ol' Synapse Software...
