You gotta love the final time of Josh Styger's Kick master speedrun, and if you don't get that, you don't spend enough time on teh internetz.

Author's comments:
First off my priority is to get Kick Master to level 2 so I can use the slide technique which really speeds things up. This is done by collecting experience that explode out of monsters when they die. After I get to level 3 I mostly go for mana instead of experience. Stage 1 and 2 are pretty boring because I'm just levelling. Stage 3 is where it gets interesting because I now have the knee and slide techniques. At level 3 I gain the double kick technique which is very useful for a lot of bosses even more so then the almighty knee. * Stage 4 - I grab the super potion spell near the beginning of the stage but it wastes a couple seconds. * Stage 5 - The flying bug boss is faced a lot throughout this game but here is where he is the hardest because I can only jump so high to set up my knee. Also the giant squid is an annoying boss and had I known the squid's bubbles of death were going to go after me so much I would have used the lightning spell to damage the squid faster (this is only faster if the bubbles are attacking you a lot). * Stage 6 - I beat the 2 boss Harpies perfectly. * Stage 7 - I messed up on 2 bosses in this level because I somehow failed to hold down twice. I reach level 3 near the end of this level which I need for the double kick technique which is very useful for the last stage. * Final Stage - I just use earthquake and freeze the bosses in a good position to use double kick on. I'm just as surprised as you are that you can freeze the last boss, however even when she can't move she still has a high chance of hitting you unless you use the strategy I used.

If I knew I would have so much mana left over I would not have grabbed any hearts and would have used more health risky strategies in some parts.

Thanks to:

Mike Uyama who came up with the strategy for the last boss and also told me lightning was useful for the giant squid which I tested to work but did not use in this run.

FODA for his Tas of Kick Master which gave me many great strategies.

  • @ZeroZX4 ESTLIB GET: KICK MASTER!

  • When I was 10 I remember being at the flea market with my parent and my mom secretly buying this game for me. THX MOM!

  • 7:10, Release the KRAKEN!! LOL! The level after that looks and sounds like a Castlevania game.

  • at first I thought... no fucking way he's doing this in 13 minutes because of the rate at which you were walking....slide kick FTW

  • yea i'll check it out and i know what you mean watching vids makes me miss it even more haha

  • @daveskatesallday dude go to vizzed-dot-com, it's a great and free emulator and has this game in their library. the guy who runs the site puts tons of work into it. as much as I wanna play this game again, I'd rather wait till I get a physical nintendo system so I can play this for real... haven't played it in 18 years! also trying not to watch youtube vids of it so I can enjoy the playing experience more for the details I have forgotten about and have to re-learn :-)

  • I want to get a NES again just so I can play this game again. Easily my most fave game ever, and one that got me started on loving middle ages and fantasy stuff. I was so obsessed with it when I was 10 that I made my own gamebook for it with drawings of all the levels, made some posters, a keychain with a pic of it, and wrote a screenplay pretending this was a movie.

Old folks used to scold us for playing those NES games all day, but those games ignited our imaginations, not like games today...

  • @bregowine

  • i loved this game as a child i was playing it DAYS and couldnt beat it i was stuck at that fucknig centaur
