Written originally to commemorate the death of a friend, a Portland fisherman called 'Eddie', it has become a metaphor for all of life and a much played song at the funerals of others who earn their perilous living from the sea.

it's amazingly beautiful.

as I've been working in a story takes place in a fishing town in Denmark, I needed a fisherman song. when I found this video, I knew right away this was what I was looking for.

Last night this song companied me hours and hours as I wrote; god knows how many times I replayed.
