Freedom of opinion and speech.

If you were to have a baby and it had a 1% chance of living, why go through the emotional torture of having the child and then burying the child.

Also, if the mother had a high percentage of dying. It may be selfish but what's better, killing the child and trying for another at a later date or killing the mother and putting an entire family through grief.

Some may also have been raped and can't deal with the emotional things that come with having the child.
