During a Training excercise. We went out to try a new chain that we had heard about. We have used the Bullet chain for years and started to hear about the Raptor. This video is of myself using the same saw cutting two holes. On the first hole I used the Bullet chain and on the second hole I used the raptor. What you see are the results. The raptor cut fast but the bullet chain sustained less damage. I would love to have a a few more raptor chains to try but we used the two we had up. It's a great chain I really liked it. It cuts fast! Don't know if it will last. I recomend you do your own test and it is very worthy of looking at. We have a very old town with some nasty roofs so durability is very important. Even so I recomend both chains very highly

  • Why would you choose a chainsaw over a Ksaw? The Ksaw is more durable and can be used on any roof.

  • Try using a k-12 saw with 2 feet of snow a 6 inches of ice on the roof. The cutting depth is too short. A 15" inch blade only gives you about 9" of cutting depth.. Great saws don't get me wrong but know how and when to use all you tools.. chain saw are great also..

  • To make it easier on yourself cut the hole in a clockwise motion: top, triangle, right side, bottom and then left side. That will speed up the process, keep you more out of the smoke and eliminate the need to switch hands. Stay safe!

  • @MarcLucero True...bullet chains are not designed to cut trees.....that's why you use chipper chain. I prefer the terminator chain over the bullet chain.

  • @brettslawnservice YES!!!...Dont forget Sears Craftsman saws and Black and Decker (crap too). If I had to vent a roof with a saw other than our Stihl saws...I would use my axe instead.

  • @Hutaree2010 Well if that's the case he better not drink all the beer in the fridge.

  • @brettslawnservice yes stihl saws are extremely good but echo roof saws are good too.

  • @SnSEditing Really? I act thought it was so if there was a flame there itd shoot out it and not come up in your face when u knocked the piece out

  • @gators288 Let me guess, you're a "career" firefighter right?

  • @18Firehouse you are stupid you must be a volly!!

  • @Fantosonium In the Netherlands, we have to wear a special chainsaw applications over our normal turnouts. Besides that we allways were specials fireboots which protect against a chainsawcut. I am curious if these turnouts also have this kind of protection?
