the south side seems relatively intact during the eruption, imagine if you happened to be climbing it that day: 'thank god honey we didn't take the north side!'
pyroclastic flow at :20 was in Japan.it killed to scientists that were the best at understanding volcanoes.they move at 100mph,or 160kph.its hot rocks, cinders, and lava.one wiped out pelee or something like that.30000 people were killed in 2 seconds.1 guy in a jail cell surived ang around 4-6 feet of ash covered the city in 1902 i think.
My general opinion: if a giant mountain is smoky and nasty shit like lava is coming out, find someplace else to be quick. If you're still around when THAT come down the mountain and turns your ass into a crisp, then what excuse can be made for you?
we lived right next to the mountain and all there was was a little ash on cars. Calling us ill prepared is completely un precendented. No big Deal. America handled it brilliantly as usual. the only casualties were dumb shit that would not leave the area when told to get the hell out.
