Male Sea Monkeys Fight to the Death!!

Silly brine shrimp males "fighting" each other. By this I mean that they've entangled each other with their frilly moustache-like head appendages and are just kind of stuck to each other and thrashing around. Usually lasts for a few days, in my experience.

Note the amazingly long fecal "tail" of the specimen in the background.

Sea monkeys are a fun experiment for the kids and easily-amused adults, but it seems that a lack of genetic diversity in their gene pool inevitably causes the colony to die out after a while.

@pilotplans Uhh.....you buy more sea monkey food from the company that sells sea monkeys. Or you could put some pieces of bread in there and see what happens (no, don't do that.)

@exquisiteoaf i am talking about people who call brine shrimp sea monkeys, the bloody things dont even look like monkeys. who would want to watch some brine shrimp muck about in a bowl? as for the comment about punctuation this is the usual defense of the grammar nazi club here on you tube who try to side track the issue being addressed. I am from the U.K.

@exquisiteoaf oh my gosh doctor,they are called sea monkeys because kids will forget brine shrimp all of the time...and that is not why the world is in an econonic mess. just because you live in the United Kingdon doesnt mean you can blame the Unites States. and fyi they are two different types of species.

well, you can feed brine shrimp yeast so i would try active bakers yeast

@doctorw2 ...Sea-Monkies and Brine-Shrimp ARE in fact two different species. They are however, both in the crustation family. I assume they are called "sea-monkies" for the company to attract children to a fun, easy to care for pet. As most people who invent something like to give it an interesting name that makes people go, "Wow! I want that." I mean.. It's just common sense...
