Another request to upgrade to HD as the text on the sign post at Aiki-jinja was unreadable to many on the first version of this movie.
I couldn't find the original music and I've thrown away the Sushi / Gyoza clip since I posted the original. Hopefully though the sign is readable and that might make up for it.
As far I as understand, Iwama is where Ueshiba sensei (the founder of Aikido) put down roots and where Aikido more or less evolved. After his passing Morihiro Saito shihan kept the Iwama Aikido going and he is responsible for the transmission of it many 'uchideshi' world wide. His son and some is students still live and teach in Iwama (please don't ask me for addresses as I have non, sorry)
Countless people in both the east and the west study Aikido as result of these men's hard work and insight into the spiritual side of martial. This, you see lots of signs of everywhere in Iwama as there are do-gi hung out to dry at most houses it seems.
I went there to shoot these clips for a really great friend of mine who studies Aikido. (I don't study the art myself). The trip was a bit of an insight into how much one man's efforts can effect the rest of the world in a positive way once he really puts his heart into it...
So, in short, this is dedicated to my buddy Stefan (and to those who truly love the Study of all aspects of budo) who loves Aikido.
You're a good man my friend.
Note: Please pardon the lack of any actual Aikido in this video. I hope you'll enjoy the sights of this tiny quaint town just the same.
As there is loads of Aikido, shot by actual Aikido-ka, on youtube, I thought it best to leave the Aikido to them, since they actually know what they're shooting.
Music by 'Kokin Gumi'.
Enjoy.
P.S Please let us know if you liked the clips.

Ppl live in cities + lose contact wid their roots. Then they create jingoistic fantasies abt sum 'utopia' .....leading to a delusional sense of nationalism. But this is gettin back to a REALITY worth preservin. Aikdo was based on inner Peace..... LOL
