Rise of Flight Multiplayer: Fighting in the N17

A not so short video from a game of Rise of Flight with the Les Hellequins virtual squadron, www.hellequins.net .
Three Nieuport 17 and one Spad XIII were facing two Albatros D.Va and two Albatros D.III. The whole situation dissolved into single combat facing an Albatros D.III until eventually a surviving D.Va joined the mêlée, to my dismay. PvP only, no bots were harmed in this production.

Certainly the most "interesting" plane to fly in 1.011 :)

Thanks for the comments, guys! Just some additional information, this was a COOP game recorded in version 1.011, Dogfight mode was still in beta testing at that time and we did not have a dedicated server back then!

The Nieuport 17 is earmarked for an FM revision and I am sure the future will hold even more epic dogfights :)

I will try to post a new video when it's out but I can't make any promises.

How do you keep looking around so much and fly at the same time?

I was actually using my mouse to look around back then, I have switched to Freetrack since then however.

tehimp, you make a good video. I'd like to watch more. May I request a video where you are in the pit in a dogfight using Freetrack? I was used to using TrackIR with a locked pit in IL2, and found it very immersive and exhilarating to try to keep up with a bandit. The smooth tracking helped out quite a bit, and made a kill all the sweeter, and the flying less frustrating than using a hat swtich.

I am using Freetrack as of last wednesday but I was not when I recorded that fight, I was using my mouse there. I have always been using my mouse to look around in il2 which I played thousands of hours online but with these planes and their upper wing and all the struts and having 6DOF in the game having track IR or freetrack helps quite a bit with visibility, not just in reducing your work load.

Question. When u used your mouse did you move around with the mouse with your left hand while flying with the stick in your right hand or did u only use your right hand and quickly switch in between?

Les Hellequins ! My favorite server! Haven't seen the early war planes yet, however and I've been in there for months. I go by Ody in ROF.
