Interestingly, most of profanity comes from genitalia and sexual acts (ever been called a twat, dick, asshole, bitch - a female dog, bastard - a bastardised child, a whore/slut, a douche etc?) It just shows we are more ashamed of our sexuality rather than the awful things we do, i.e. why is torture or cruelty not a bad word to use? Heck', even rape has become a somewhat tamer word that I found myself using when I was younger (inbox rape, I'ma rape you and take your babies etc...)
