  • You don't have to give me the benefit of the doubt, I'm supporting WKS all the way and I'm not gonna apologise to anyone for that.

  • @tww36mufc

The stabbing and fans being put into hospital were heavily reported in the Courier and Evening Telegraph(on matchday), actually. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you just didn't see any of it and somehow didn't see any of the news stories around the time, but even then, your attitude compared to how I or any other United fan would react to talk of our supporters doing things like that shows just how much progress Poland and other Eastern countries need to make.

  • @pxe You're gonna have your opinion but the stabbing, carrying of chains and bats and countless United fans in hospital wasn't reported in the Courier was it? The thing with the girl was disgraceful but you are always gonna have some dickheads following any team. To be honest I'm gonna defend what I saw 'cos I was there, eye-opener or not.

  • @pxe It came fairly close to being as disgraceful as Manchester, and considering the difference in numbers involved, that's astonishing. It's a bit of an eye-opener seeing it defended and apparently not considered too far out of the ordinary, as well.

With the exception of the huns in Manchester, I've never seen or heard of anything so bad as happened that night. A fan stabbed, a teenage girl set upon by a gang of Slask skinheads, fans walking around carrying chains and bats wearing MMA gloves, the Wellgate having to be closed because of fans rioting, countless United fans being put in hospital after being attacked - and keep in mind these weren't United casuals out for a fight, just normal fans being attacked for their colours.

  • @pxe I'm gonna have to disagree with you, I was there with my girlfriend as one of the 4500 travelling fans of Śląsk and I didn't see anything more than some extremely loud behaviour. I will admit that there were 2 or 3 that let everyone down in the city centre and the Dundee Police dealt with them but to be honest compared to what happened in Manchester with fans from your top club it was nothing.

Anyway it doesn't matter now, probably another 21 years before we play again lol

Slask were a good team going forward, weak defensively but we have Houston to blame for not taking advantage of that. I'd say United are slightly better but not much, and I doubt many United fans hold much against Slask's players or manager(who was probably due us one, after that game in the 80s). It's just the behaviour of the Slask fans that caused the animosity that developed; I don't think anyone can deny they completely disgraced Poland that night.

  • @pxe I've went and had a look at some facts about Dundee United since yesterday, Only unbeaten team versus Barcelona in European competition is good stuff, the UFK programme for underprivileged children is first class and your recent record against the number one team in Scotland cannot be knocked.

But Śląsk Wrocław still knocked you out of Europe and they played some good stuff doing it, you think what you like about that but it's true. :-)

I'm not bitter, just came across this video(and thus saw your comment) while browsing United videos on youtube - our most recent Cup win, knocking out Rangers in the quarter final en route to that win despite an away draw and a biased referee, winning away to Rangers again last season with a last minute goal, beating our rivals to win the league, getting the better of Barcelona at the Nou Camp...

  • @pxe It was 4 months ago, let it go. Bitter much?
