Time compression of the Williams Expedition with Jay Pasachoff July 22nd 2009 from a mountain top in Tianhuangping China. The fisheye movie is intended for projection in a planetarium dome. The 6000 frames recorded by Aram Friedman of Ansible Technologies were processed by Eric Beam. Totality at this location was just over 5 1/2 minutes. Our original intention was to shoot from Sun up to Sun down but as you can see there was significant cloud cover and we were extremely lucky to have reasonably clear skies for most of the eclipse. The recording ends abruptly due to a sudden rain storm.

  • I was there! most epic moment of my life!

  • @vulpive Thank you so much for your comment.

Tell me about your trip to China, was it your first Eclipse? Aram Friedman

  • Fantastic. Was amazing how the clouds broke for the eclipse. Didn't realize how dark it really got.

    Love the sound track.

  • Thank you so much, as you can see you are my first comment.

If you have a moment take a look at my web page, I build portable planetariums that simulate the Universe, I also teach astronomy in the schools here in New Jersey.

I'm working on a new program to teach climate change. I can not tell you how many times I am approached by "deniers" looking for confirmation that the Sun cycles are the cause.

Keep in touch and thanks again.. Aram Friedman
