For that matter, so can anyone. So someone might decide to change it to mean it's ok to marry mom. and if "love is love", maybe someone really loves their dog,or sheep. civil unions are cool, except they have 9 differences under the law. you're right about language and changing words, however, much like the bible has been rewritten, language also adapts in society over time. although, the term marriage is actually defined as 2 people in a union or legal contract and mostly uses man and woman as an example (obviously b/c that is the most common) the definition does not exclude gender. When separating church and state, marriage is a legal matter not religious.

Everyone has a right to disagree and I don't expect people to accept me all the time...but sexuality is such a small percent of what makes up a human, ya know? Prop 8 has struck a nerve with me. I don't like the thought of people telling me I'm not human enough to sign a contract at the courthouse, yet we get called upon to sit in courtrooms as jury members, why? Because skipping over the gays and any other minority would be considered discrimination.
