Thanks for the vid. I had a 94 Escort GT and loved it. The little Mazda 1.8 liter engine is from the Miata. It has low torque but I loved the way it would "come up on cam" at around 4,500rpms. It was a very fun motor to drive. The 5-speed manual sucked. I totally wore out the 2nd gear synchros by 30k miles but I drove it hard.

i have a 95 escort gt and its slower then shit my corolla ve was so much faster well then again i had lighter crank and cam and i had 03 celica injectors and ecu and no cat and inside was mint still..... i wish i didnt have this escort i miss my corolla :(

wish the interior items on mine were in that good of shape. If i'd seen all that by the road i'd have snatched it up!

Hmm...maybe there's just something different about my 94 Escort GT, but I can get 0-60 a couple seconds faster. I don't really know much about cars though so maybe I've got some newer stuff under the hood that was installed before I got the car. >_>

As an update it's been a couple years since I posted this, I gave the car to my younger brother who ordered a 323 turbo kit for it, and blew the motor while screwing around one day. The car unfortunately sits in a junkyard somewhere, but it's legacy will live on for ever.
