I think settled the case is more likely and paid royalties...

I saw him "perform" this song circa 1986. He told the audience that he couldn't perform the song because of the lawsuit, but "...that doesn't mean you can't!..." and proceeded to do about half the song and left the payoff lines (My buddy-buddy bear, went into town to vote, like saspariall in the moonlight, so was that still, doing the bear dance, etc.) for the audience to sing out.

Out of Jimmy's MCA discs, the ones that were on ABC Records,

I really don't think anything is different. I mean, they cleaned the

songs up a little...noise..and turned up the sound, but really did

not remix or do any sound engineering. Way it sounds.

I lived in Charlotte for about a year...Beautiful town, but, couldn't handle the locals. Too far north, too far inland and too Bible Belt for an old Florida beach rat like myself. Seen Jimmy at 6 concerts from Hawaii opening for the Eagles to Mary Weather Post Pavillion in Virginia...good night, off night, it didn't matter...never been to a 'bad' Buffett show.

I love Buffett and I love this song. Sorry but in this performance. feels like he was phoning it in. So what, he had an off day. He was tired. Charlotte is a great town but it weighed ME down last week when I was there ~~ twice..

Anyway, the man is brilliant singer, song writer and author. And Jimmy "phoning it in" is better than 94% of the rest of the folks who give us music.

Love him, love his bear, love OUR ocean and God speed crazy pirate guy. Never stop.
