Atheer: Everything Has Gone كل شيء راح

Everything has gone.. Such it feels when losing a dear soul-mate..
or does it?!
could it be our own self pity that is talking?
could this very unrealistic exaggeration be why we lose people in the first place?
Could 'everything' be a huge burden on the loved ones that paradoxically drives them away from us?

'Everything has gone' is one of the most intense and perhaps the most blatantly melancholic music Najat Al Saghira has ever sung..
The music was composed by the genius Baleegh Hamdi (بليغ حمدى), and it was first featured in 1962 in the film 'The Dark Candles' (الشموع السوداء).
Najat was born in Cairo 1936 and her real name is Nagat Mahmoud. She is the elder sister of the late diva Soad Hosni.
The voice of Najat is angelic to say the least and has touched the souls and hearts of lovers all across arabia and beyond..

The lyrics of this very song are the brainchild of Mohammad Hamza (محمد حمزة), and this is my own interpretation. Please feel free to correct me:-

Everything has gone and vanished
واللي بيننا خلاص مضى,
and its all over between us

بس وحياة اللي فات واللي أصبح ذكريات
but in the name of what had passed and become memories
عمري ما حبيت ولا اتمنيت غيرك انت
I have never loved or wanted

but you my darling..

أيوه وحياة اللي كان بيننا وراح
Yes, in the name of what we had and lost
واللي مش قادرة اصدق انه راح
which I stil cant believe it's gone

I was never engaged away from you, not even when upset..
غصب عني قلبي خدني وراح يصالحك
Against my will; my heart wanted us to make up
غصب عني قلبي فاتني وراح مسامحك

which i'm still not sure if it was a date or a farewell

the heart has been with you even when far

just like it was when near
بكرا تندم لا يا رب في يوم ما تندم
Tomorrow you will regret -no god (i'd rather that you dont)
حب وافرح بس أوعى تاني تجرح
