Event #3 for the 2009 edition of CGF was PACKED!! We had a record crowd of between 150-200 people in our store for this one - it was insane! The night featured a huge Dr. Mario tournament on the original NES with 64 players (we apologize to all who wanted to play but couldn't get in!), and we easily could have had 100 people play, but if we did, we'd never finish before midnight.
We started in the store, and then went outside on the HUGE movie screen for the final rounds.
In addition to the games, we had a book signing from Brett Weiss, a performance by Austin's own professional break dancing team, and our first ever Game Over Videogames - Costume Contest.
Even though the Dr. Mario tournament was fantastic, for many attendees, the highlight was definitely the costume contest. We had about 12 people in the contest, plus several more who dressed up for fun, but didn't compete. Plus, some of our employees had some pretty cool costumes too!
We all had a blast, and we hope that you did too.
Next up is the NBA JAM 2-on-2 tournament and a LIVE performance from Amanda Lepre and her video game music playing rock band - the Descendents of Erdwick on Friday, August 14th. Be there!!!
