@valdi9165 had 3 caddies with northstars, never had a coolant leaks..what are you talking about....unless u mistreated the engine it performed flawlessly..put 175000 miles on a 96 sedan de ville w/a northstar
@MrThecrowmaster your an idiot, i had a northstar blow a hose in the middle of august in dallas texas traffic jam, and it performed just as stated....i was able to drive 25 miles to the caddy dealer for a hose replacement..the engine had not one drop of coolant in 100 degree heat...the only thing you couldnt do was go over 60 mph and run the air....
@gordiem10 Yeah the 90's caddies were one of a kind. Loved that Seville STS w/Northstar when it came out when I was still kicking it in elementary. You can find so many of them in such great shape these days.
Your suspension codes can be removed by installing resistors on the old wires that lead into your old suspension components. Solder them if you can, and then wrap in electrical tape and secure them somewhere out of the way. Check out strutmasters or suncoreindustries for the resistors.
anyone know how to remove the air ride error. i hit information and it goes away but ineed to do this on every start. no biggie but would be nice to remove it. i removed air ride and put on new after market shock system. thx
@relaxitsonlyagame yeah i know what u mean when u say oil issues, Prior to this i owned a 94 4.9 lincoln town car with similar issues based on periods of sitting. But this is in such a condition its worth the trouble i think. I just really always wanted a 90s Cadillac. can u imagine the people who have owned this car when it was the best thing going. i remember seeing it in every other movie as a kid. anyways replaced all the motor seals even the main seal. costed my life savings but...im happy
@gordiem10 It's sad hearing this about a 4.9. It was the most reliable motor Cadillac ever built and many have gone well over 600,000kms with general maintenance.
But 130k on a 17 year old vehicle isn't exactly what a person should get excited about. That would explain all your dried up seals and oiling issues. Starters corrode, and bearings last a life time unless they've hit a curb or two.
just bought a 1994 sedan Deville 4.9 L paid very little for car. no rust. but clear coat peeling all over. car only has 130 km on it so it was a steal. but within first month of owning I had to replace starter, wheel bearing, transmission lines, and radiator due to internal oil cooler failure. The day after fixing all of this I was a victim of a rear seal failure. My garage floor was soaked in oil...its at the shop getting motor completely removed so that they can install the new 65.00 se
It's ironic how she talks about the car loosing its coolant when it was new because thats exactly the major problem with these northstars. Its a shame it is such a nice car the local salvage yards are full of these cars because of this very expensive flaw that cadillac should have recalled.
