One of my favorites by Tommy Emmanuel. Thought now it's time to record it for you :)

This is the only song I prefer to play without a thumbpick...

The ballad is written in a very simple way, although sounds as beautiful and sensitive as just TE can compose it...

Since it's long time ago that I heard the original for the last time I hope that I could make the song sound like me and not too much like Tommy. I also changed the middle section a little.

For recording I mixed the signals from the Larrivée pickup and the microphone.
(Please watch in high quality to hear it)

Hope you enjoy it! :)

  • There you are again. When I find another song by Tommy I want to play, I look on line for covers. You always come up, and you always play it well. I also have a guitar that I had Tommy sign. (and an 8X10, and my ticket to the show). Please, never stop playing. You are wonderful.

  • @MrRonLafleur thanks for your kind compliment. happy you could also meet tommy and let him sign your guitar. it's just amazing to have him standing in front of you, shaking his hands and talk a little... :)

  • A really nice cover! I totally agree with you that this is one of a few Tommy songs that is the most playable (is that a word?) without any form of a pick. I never play this song with a pick either. Other songs that I feel dont need a pick is "Since We Met", "Lewis & Clark" and perhaps "Footprints". But, I must say that it almost sounds like you are playing this with a pick. Mainly due to your guitar being plugged in I guess.

  • @egilaat You're right, the pickup-sound is really "hard" (hope you know what I mean) so there's not the reall feeling without a pick.

  • great work! i'm learning tommy's mombasa now. but i just use my fingers, play with a pick is a little hard for me. i think fingers can also make a "hard" voice, like what you said~

  • Ich bin begeistert Judith... eigentlich wollte ich wieder anfangen zu picken, aber ich glaube ich lasse es lieber, oder nur wenn es keiner hört ... - GANZ GROSS !!!!

  • Beautiful as always; Judith!
