Clear, sharp. vivid, colourful high quality video - Sony Vegas Tutorial

Many people have asked how I get my videos to be so crisp and sharp. Although I do film in HD (high definition) I use a couple of editing techniques in Sony Vegas for both HD and Standard Definition that really improve quality, colour, sharpness very easily. Rich-quick question. I got a new laptop for Christmas and the specs are Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit 4gb Ram AMD phenom(tm) II P960 Quad-Core Processor.

I've been using vegas movie studio to edit my montages for my other channel and I've downloaded Sony Vegas Pro 9 but it lags for me on pro 9 even though my computer specs are pretty good. That's why I used Movie Studio Platinum 11 to edit as it has no lag. Please message back for any tips I should use.
