Some more segments of the quarter peal I videoed from the belfry at Leamington Spa. I was up there for the whole thing, so I got plenty of material...

  • Nice view of tower movement at the start!! Guessing its the 2? a nice sounding ring at any rate!!

  • @simonbellringer It's the fifth

  • A bit of lateral movement going on there, judging from the way the gap keeps opening and closing between the headstock and the bearing housing. No wonder they're hard work.

  • @GJChurchward You do realise it's doing that because of the influence of the tower? This isn't bad compared to how it got at some of the severe tower shakes (which I didn't record because the ringing at those points was bad).

Having actually seen the whole bell shunting from side to side by up to 2 inches, it explains why this bell in paticular is one of the worst in the tower.

  • Yes, I did realise that. Now please also explain to me why kites sometimes wobble!
