Wreckers continue to bring down the Lafayette Building in downtown Detroit on Dec. 30, 2009, this time tearing into the southern tower. The Lafayette opened in 1924 and was designed by noted theater architect C. Howard Crane, who also did the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The demolition follows a lengthy preservation battle to save the unique Italian Renaissance landmark.

  • Yeah, I saw this being torn down while walking from school downtown last summer---it had some really good art drawings on it I should have snapped a picture of. It's been gone since late last summer.

  • This is happy and sad, This will at least clean up the city.

  • i went thru this building all the way to roof the year before. it was not rotted! great way to spend the taxpayers' money in a city that's broke!

  • that is too small , how did they get the top off the building, CAT are shit anyway i used to drive a 330 high reach called it the scrapapillar

  • add another to the list tuller hotel, satler hotel, J.L.Hudsons, old city hall, tiger stadium, maddsion hotel, mowtown recoreds and god knows how many more it is sad to see the city historic places just left to rot till they can not be saved all thanks to the many people who ran that city with there heads up there asses

  • @6969Wolf6969 bunch of amateurs they look like after viewing all videos and as i said before this machine is too small for this scale of a building they shouls have used one with at least 160 feet or preferably 190 feet reach!!!!!

  • This 385C Is too small for this job! Should have used a hitachi zx870 with 50 meter arm instead or a cat with extendable main boom section.

  • Adamo rocks. They are a really cool demo company. Great machines and great guys. They really get the job done nicely.
