Don't kill, steal from, or bonk your neighbors wife - it's bad.
Well yes, but your average chimp can (and does) work out these basic principles for living in groups and avoiding conflict.
Thanks God, don't worry about germ-theory, a heads-up on virus', or anything useful we might use. Another billion or so gruesome deaths, and we'll figure it out.
As far as I can see, not one of "the books" reflects any understanding of the world beyond that of the time in which they were written.

I watched markloss2, and gave it 5 stars. I always give 5 stars to stupid clips so that we shall not be denied light-entertainment.

Most fundamentalist Christians do not regard capital punishment as a problem for them. They interpret 'thou shalt not kill' as 'thou shalt do no murder.' Since they regard judicial killing as just punishment, sanctioned by example in Deut., they're fine with it. In fact, they are somewhat outraged at the comparison between legal execution and illegal murder. Both homicides, but only 'murder' proscribed by the 10 Cs.
Face it. America is and always has been and will be a CHRISTIAN NATION. We have godly laws based on the bible such as prohibitions against stewing goats in their own milk, mixing two types of thread and various thought crimes such as coveting a neighbour's ass or perhaps her chestnut mare. Killing is against the ten commandments and anyone who does this must be killed.. er abortion is murder and jacking off is genocide. I've already slaughtered a few trillion descendents myself.

I thought you were going to use certain US states fondness for capital punishment as the argument against the 'thou shall not kill' commandment but you threw me a curve ball. Nice work as always.

I can't believe I didn't think of that! Very good point.

In his video, he makes a distinction between having absolute morality and having very oversimplified moral absolutes, and he talks about situational ethics. I give him credit for understanding the distinction, however I do wonder how he can justify that with the rather absolutist sounding biblical quotes from which his morality is derived.

Hence my willingness to have a discussion with him, he does at least think about things a bit and doesn't just regurgitate Aig at me.
