New York City is a stopover on an ancient migratory path for birds called the Atlantic flyway. During the spring and fall migration, birds are often injured flying into plate glass windows, or become disoriented and exhausted by the bright lights at night. But unlike L.A., Chicago and Philadelphia, New York doesn't have a wildlife rehabilitation center. Instead, injured wildlife is cared for by an underground network of wildlife rehabilitators like Rita McMahon.
Good to know that still a hope for all these beautiful animals in need.

Deeply heartwarming. It's wonderful that people can have compassion for even the smallest of creatures--even creatures which some people dislike and consider dirty or undesirable. But they're all God's creatures, and it's wonderful to see them treated as such.

What an amazing woman. What a much better place this earth would be if more people cared like this.

This is so wonderful! Most places won't take pigeons and seagulls, birds that are often looked at as pesty and overpopulated. It's great to know that someone is doing something to really make a difference.
Are there any opportunities to help?
