The cuteness adaptation has allowed one of the most efficient predators ever known to infiltrate your home.
The purring lulls the potential victim into a false sense of cuddly warm fuzziness.
...and when you pet them and they lick you, they are testing for ripeness.
Three of them... one of you... they know where you live and you have to sleep sometime.

That last kitten almost looks exactly like the one I have when it was a kitten. Only difference is, it managed to kill somebody on Halo. Last time I leave the controller unwatched when standing over the giant hole.
