On the 2003 tour Edsvoice seemed a little deeper, on VFC especially if u watch the grand rapids show he was really screaming and not saving his voice. the last three tours ive seen his voice is in top form. And i agree with the rock honors performance, to do that vocal on love reign oer me and the real me (which is played and sung one octave down nowadays) still gives me goose bumps. Its not easy singing for 2+ hours every night for 6 months straight on the road ya know, cut him some slack
i agree with that. 1994-2002 his best years.sounds like he's thinking more about it these days rather than just going with the feeling. just an opinion.
i think that his voice is better now than it has been in a while, i think 2002-2004 he was poor, but now he sings big songs like release and wash like he used to, his voice has matured, hes still one of the greates rock singers out there
I think he wants to quit smoking because he knows that on the last album his vocals were a little bit worse than before or i can say a little different & maybe the main reason were the cigarettes. Its barely noticeable but there is a little difference. On the other hand Love, Reign Over Me which was recorded almost a year after the last album, was a highlight and a prove that he can do it still.
I agree about "the whole show" statement. But when i listen to older shows where he is screaming with power the whole show and not saving his voice at all, he sounds bad on the mellow ones. Also the control of his voice is 5 times better these days. When he sings mellow sounds great and when he screams he screams the right way as its supposed to sound not just for the sake of screaming. First example that comes to mind is Reign Over Me - the control of his screams is amazing.
I do not agree at all. Watch VH1 Rock Honors The Who 2008 and try to say the same thing. You might say it again but you will be lying :). I also suggest for you to see the Santiago, Chile 2005 concert, there are clips here on youTube. He sounds so much better in 2005 then on the VFC tour. One more thing he said recently in a interview that he is quitting the cigarettes so that might add a little more power to his vocal.
LET THE SONG PROTEST!!
